The food budget did not survive Iceland
We genuinely thought we could survive on 7-Eleven (aka 10-11 in Iceland) convenience store food while in Iceland.
We were very, very wrong.
Food in Iceland is expensive — and due to lack of will, we threw budget discipline completely out the window.
What started as “we’ll keep it simple” quickly turned into “we’re already here, so let’s just order it.”
To give some context:
-
Coffee: AUD $7–10
-
Casual café meals: AUD $25–40
-
Restaurant mains: AUD $45–70
-
Anything remotely fancy: don’t ask, just enjoy
Was it expensive? Yes.
Did we regret it? Not for a second.
